Salve Mater - Reminiscences

SALVE MATER is a disused sanatorium located in Lovenjoel, near Leuven in Belgium. The published Belgium photographer Pascal Baetens has the use of one of the building complexes, which was formerly the administration building, complete with church, mortuary, kitchens and an abundance of different rooms including large attics and cellars. I have been fortunate in being a member of a small group that has visited Pascal at his temporary studio several times and we hope to make more visits before the building is finally handed over to developers. Besides his normal work as a commercial photographer Pascal runs fine art nude workshops for small groups.
The building is in great condition and has the advantage of lots of natural light in different parts of the building throughout the day. All of these pictures have been taken using only natural light and I hope you enjoy this small selection. My thanks go to Pascal for his continued support in providing the venue.
